A very decorative foliage house plant which can grow up to about 3' high, all species have glossy lance shaped leaves in shades of green, grey and yellowish tints. The common name for this plant is Chinese Evergreen, it will survive in low light conditions but will grow best in defused light areas. Never subject them to direct sunlight as the leaves will easily scorch. Normal room temperatures are suitable for good plant growth and they will tolerate some temperature changes. During active growth plants will need watering moderately but allowing plants to dry out between waterings, for extra humidity during vigorous growth stand the plants on a tray of damp pebbles. During periods when the plant is not growing, water only enough to keep the plant from drying out completely. return to Interior and Office Plants main page.
