Dracaenas are highly regarded for their striking usually variegated foliage, although there are many green and dark leafed types. Most are erect single or multi-stemmed shrubs, some are low growing while others grow into trees. Below is a photo gallery of 9 different types, click on the thumbnail to see a larger picture, click on the left and right arrows to move through the gallery. Dracaenas are easy undemanding plants, they grow best in defused light and many will tolerate lowlight conditions. Plants will remain healthy in low temperatures (about 50°F) but 65°F is ideal. During the growing season water as often as necessary to keep the compost moist but never allow the plant to stand in water. At other times water enough to keep the compost barely moist and allow to dry out between waterings, the plants can be kept dry but the leaves can brown at the tips if they are kept dry for to long. return to Interior and Office Plants main page.
