| Foliage plants in the garden form a backdrop to other flowering plants, they provide a screen and colour, particularly in the autumn and winter months. They can be evergreen or deciduous, with leaves of all shapes, sizes and forms. They add another dimension to the garden with a multitude of valued uses particularly in hiding unsightly views and insuring all the garden can not be viewed at one glance. Plants with yellow foliage brighten up dull areas, they usually do well in shady situations as yellow foliage keeps its colour better when not in direct sun light. Many deciduous trees and shrubs show beautiful autumn colour, in years with moist, cool autumn weather the leaf colours are often prolonged and inhanced.
